The benefits of Green Tea

The serenity of sitting down with a nice hot cup of tea while the world passes you by for a moment can be enjoyed by all who dare to try it. The smell of the pot just brewed brings everyone out of the woodwork to enjoy its contents.

However, there are so many more health benefits to sitting down to a cuppa than just for enjoyment. Especially in the winter months; a nice immune boosting cup of honey, lemon, ginger and cayenne pepper can ward of colds and flu's, a honey and lemon drink can soothe a sore throat and a green tea with ginger, cinnamon and cardamom can bring vitality.

The Chinese population can't get enough of Green tea. I started drinking it a few years back knowing that it was a healthy morsel, but just how good it is may surprise you. Green tea has more antioxidants than any other tea, it is antiviral, boosts your metabolism which helps weight loss, is relaxing and can help with depression, can help fight off many diseases, reduces bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases good cholesterol (HDL), reduces stress, beneficial for those with chronic fatigue, treating skin conditions and relieving arthritis.

Harvard health reports that there is a significant association with drinking green tea and reducing risks for many forms of cancer including skin, breast, colon, esophageal, lung and bladder and reducing the risk of heart disease. All it takes is three cups a day. As drinking tea can impede the absorption of iron from fruits and vegetables, it is best to add a squeeze of fresh lemon. So take a moment, pour a cup of tea and drink to your health. You really are worth it!
